Hemedti Announces the Formation of a New Government for a Democratic and United Sudan
By: Charilogone Editorial StaffThe commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, has revealed his government's intention to print a new national currency and issue identity documents. This initiative aims to guarantee all Sudanese people the enjoyment of their fundamental rights.
In a written speech marking the second anniversary of the outbreak of the civil war in Sudan, Hemedti called on the African Union to recognize what he considers "the democratic will of the Sudanese people," while rejecting "submission to the putschists in Port Sudan."
He also affirmed that his government would not allow foreign powers to transform Sudan into an arena of regional conflicts or interfere in the competition for control of the Red Sea.
Hemedti said: "We are not engaged in this war because we like to fight, but because the army has closed all peaceful avenues to us."
He criticized General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the regular army, for proposing only a military solution, without any realistic political initiative to end the conflict.
On April 15, 2025, Hemedti announced the formation of a "government of peace and unity," which he described as representing the "true face" of Sudan. This government will include all social and political strata of the country. On his Telegram account, he expressed his pride in this initiative, also announcing the creation of a new currency and new identity cards.
Hemedti concluded by calling for a free, democratic, and pluralistic Sudan, while urging international figures, such as Donald Trump, to play a central role in ending the war.
